Is Java the right place to do this?
Never touched java before, and only put my first website together over the last month.
I have an idea.
To impliment this idea I need a webpage with an image on it.
When the user moves the mouse over the image I need UDP packets sent out containing the position of the mouse. (Preferably image relative, but page relative is do-able, i quess?)
I took a look at asp.net, but i see that i would need a windows server for the hosting, which is a bit more expensive. And it doesn't look directl possible to find mouse position, unless i use java anyways.
So if i were to use java, would the UDP packet get sent out from the server side or the client(computer viewing the webpage). If it gets sent out from the computer viewing the website, would it make it past that persons router and out to the internet, and thus to my computer?
Is perl a better choice?
Like many, i know what i want but not how to get from here to there.
