    Default Problems with eclipse scrapbook

    Hi,

I'm new to Java, and slowly beginning to get to grips with it. Most of my programming experience is in ASM for microcontrollers, and a bit of C.

I'm using eclipse (3.3) and the SDK from Google. So far, it is working correctly - I have managed to get a hello_world application to run on the emulator.

However, I'm following the excellent video tutorial from Mark Dexter. Currently, I'm trying to use the scrapbook within eclipse to run basic java statements.

The first time I attempted this, Windows 7 decided it didn't like eclipse and popped up a firewall message. I clicked on 'allow'.

I'm now getting this in the console:

    Java Code:
    #
    # A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
    #
    # Internal Error (classFileParser.cpp:3075), pid=212, tid=7580
    #  Error: ShouldNotReachHere()
    #
    # JRE version: 6.0_16-b01
    # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (14.2-b01 mixed mode windows-x86 )
    # An error report file with more information is saved as:
    # C:\Users\Morf\workspace\TotalBeginner\hs_err_pid212.log
    #
    # If you would like to submit a bug report, please visit:

So how do I go about fixing this? I must admit, I'm quite out of my depth here, but learning quickly!

try this: right-click your scrapbook file inside eclipse -> Properties and select Scrapbook Runtime and then check if "Runtime JRE" is set properly.

    Hi j2me64,

    Thanks for the reply.

I've now discovered that this only occurs when I've created an Android project. The scrapbook JRE is undefined. I've tried setting 'Execution environment' and 'Alternate JRE' but the same error remains.

If I create a Java project however, the scrapbook JRE is already set at JaveSE-1.6, and it works perfectly.

How can I make the scrapbook inside an Android project work correctly?

Why not just keep your Scrapbook page in a separate project? You can still have it open in an editor tab, and get to it quickly.
