Are you trying to write an applet that can be pasted into?
Or are you using someone else's applet? If so, you need to ask the author how to use his applet.
It is possible to write an applet that could have an image pasted into it. I think that it would need to get permission from the user to allow that.

I'm trying to use someone's applet.
Here's an example of one:
Dreezle: Paint, draw and stamp online!

Then you need to ask the author of the code how to use it.
