Default could not find main class?

When I try to open a .jar file it says "could not find main class, the program will exit" why is it doing this and how can i fix it?

I'm guessing you packed the jar yourself. Take a look at what the MANIFEST.MF file does.

If you want your jar file to be executable, it needs to have a MANIFEST.MF file inside, that tells it where the main class is located. It's all in the Sun Java tutorials.

Ok, then direct your friend to the tutorial on making jar files. I know from personal experience how confusing packing your program into a jar can be at first.
