In my opinion (i´m new to java too) these tutorials can be a bit confusing for the beginner. I had no previous experience in programming, so, if you are absolute beginner try these video tutorials on youtube. Moreover i´ve found extremely useful two books Heads first Java and Java in a Nutshell.
Hope it helps

my favorit is this one
Eclipse And Java Video Tutorials
you will find different kind of tutorials depending on what you are looking for. i suggest you start with the "Eclipse and Java for Total Beginners". even if you never wrote a line of code the tutorial is quite easy to understand and follow. otherwise feel free to ask. have fun.
