Unhappy Reading external text files from an Applet

I'm working with Greenfoot and my game needs to read external text files to implement some dialogues.
In Greenfoot it works fine, but when I convert it to applet, it can't read those files anymore. It is still able however to access image and sound files.

So how can I read a text file, which is in the same folder as the html of the applet?

Add a security policy. I wouldn't know how to do this by heart, but I'm sure Google gives you a decent answer :)

You just need to sign your applet.
Try Controls4J - Advanced Swing Components.
