    If you want to start saving at the EOF you could use

    Java Code:
    PrintWriter outfile = new PrintWriter(new OutputStreamWriter (new FileOutputStream(fileName, true<---)));

    That i think should do it.Take a look at suns

    So would I not need any reference to the toString method to add phrases at a later time?

    toString doesn't does what you think it does.
    toString makes an object readable, gives a String who explains that object
