    you have tutorials on the web who are free, if you really doesn't want to spend money...

    i need it because this book is not like any other book it is simplifying everything to u so u can understand

    java for students is way cheaper and I used it as my first book, there are some trials online.
    its very good, strongly recomend it.
    just give other books a chance :)

    And one of the most useful resources are the Sun tutorials, which you can download and run through at your leisure. They really do a good job of it all.
