abc of java

Dear friends,
i am very very new person to java. i can work in excel vba.when i tried to develope an application , came to know that is not possible in excel vba but can be in java.so, i want to develope the same application in java now.actually my application requirements are,
-select the resources
-select the date (it should look like windows calendar)
-select the task(task1,task2...etc.) --> task list should be created seperately with admin login and should be made available for selecting here.
-select sub activity of each task --> sub activities list should be created seperately for every task with admin login and should be made available for selecting here.

the list of sub activities will contain both billable and non billable activities.while put entry for new task,the required sub activities list can be selected from this whole list and should be able to catagorize as billable & non billable.

-select the hours spent

once all of these are selected,it should be able to save and able to create graphs among these entered items.

this total application should be converted as *.exe file.

what application should be used for this and am using Windows Vista Home Premium edition.

somebody please help me!!
