MP3 Player idea

I ve a plan to do the following.:o

I want to build a mp3 music player that accepts voice as input and play the specified song.
In simple words.. User Should say the song and Player should play it.
Hope my idea is good. If not pls enhance my idea.:confused:

I dont how to start and where to start.:rolleyes:
I just ve this idea. Pls suggest me how to build.
I ve no idea abt how front should look and wat Database tool to use..!!!
Suggest me ur ideas and Guide me (Am a beginner. I jus completed Part 1 in JAVA Complete Reference book....!!!).:p

Yeah, this is going to include a massive amount of work. Voice analysis is a major undertaking. There might be packages that do this already, but as far as coding from scratch, I wouldn't bother unless you have 6 months+ to invest. In our graduate level multimedia course, a student could earn extra credit if they could manage to get voice recognition system to work reliably with even a single word.

Long story short, it took 3 months for daring students to work on and none of the results were reliable -- if anyone other than the coder spoke to the system it would often fail all together.

Nice Idea, but I think you'd be better off simply using software already written -- Keep in mind that any mac made in the last 10 years already has similar functionality (speech recognition+applescript+iTunes)

Please don't get discouraged from trying other great project ideas. If this is something that excites you, I think you can defiantly find other projects that would be exciting and fun in this area, I just think this particular idea was a little ambitious for a newer programmer. Best of luck, I hope I can help you with a project in the near future :D
