Default do i need to use java?

Hi there, Ive recently had an idea of how to market something, but am wondering whether java would be the best way to it or not..Any help or advice would be appreciated.

my aim is to have a website, whereby a series of drop down boxes, and questions would be asked. this will then be submitted, and a series of if then else, statements and calculations would be made and processed depending upon the answers given. prior to the results being shown some kind of payment mechanism would be brought up,and then once payment has been made, the results would appear ready to be printed.

any help or advise on this would be extremely grateful, not too mention once its working your item will be for free once its up and running..(not that i can mention at this stage what it is :-) )

    it is much appreciated..
    regards
    Raju

Yes the solution is JSP/Servelt. It's obvious that you cannot use a desktop application, but more likely it's possible to work on with applets as well. Depends on your backend actually, seems to me lots of process are going on and better to move with JSP as angryboy mentioned above.
