basically you can rep someone on their posts. it does nothing other than indicate how many times someone's been repped and by whom. i think it finds its most use on a highly active forum that is more of a community where people are very aware of one another and frequently rep, but it doesn't seem to be a factor here.

I hope that our mod will explain soon how rep is being calculated in our site.
I am also expecting this...Mak

i just repped you and you got a +1. that is basically how rep works. see the rep button at the bottom of each post (not to be mistaken with the report button, which is right next to it)

I could always look at my rep points in userCP (even on old layout). But limited to 5
latest comments. So far I have 12 rep points, but rep power is only 1. So i'm
guessing anywhere from 1 to X is rep points = 1 rep power. So if X = 12, then eranga has at least 108 rep points! Can you convert that into coupons?USE CODE TAGS-->
...
I am curious as to how the points are calculated. They don't compare in any obvious way to Rep Power (I have 12 points, and one Rep Power...)
If the above doesn't make sense to you, ignore it, but remember it - might be useful!
And if you just randomly taught yourself to program, well... you're just like me!

hmm. good point. maybe when i have the time, i'll just keep repping someone until they hit a new level. then keep doing it and see if it's constant or whatnot....

Hmm interesting discussion here about the reputation and reputation power. Actually moderators are not aware fully about the reputation power. But the reputations are calculated based on how far your answer/comment helpful to others. But that's not enough, people have to mark it, as emceenugget explain in post #7.
For more details please read the sub-section of Reputation in the following page.
