how to add GUI to existing program?

I have a program that reads a file and prints the text. I now want to add a GUI to the same program, but I have no idea of how to do this..

Thanks Fubarable....I'm reading about it right now. I didn't realize the scope of the subject. I thought it would be a somewhat simpler task to ad GUI to an existing program, but I'm very new to Java and programming in general.
