    Talking ..Contains Method..

    First of all..
HI everyone and glad to be one of the members..
I'm really new to programing in Java..
so I may somehow ask questions that you might consider in the category of stupidity.. :D
    anyhow..
I have question about the method called "contains"..
here is the problem I have..
the instructor gave me a piece of code to do..
it's about writting a programe that takes a value from the user..
and then looks for that value in a txt file..
then returns a value from that txt to the user on screen..
and he said to use the contains method in String class..
I just need to know how the "contains" work..
    and thanks in advance..

    Welcome!

Please stop use of decorated text next time. Really hard to read the post.

Did you know about Java doc? You can find the complete declaration of those things you are looking. How long you are working on with Java. Good luck!

Java doc is the documentation for all the Java API(Application Programming Interface) used in developments. You can find it from the following location.

    API Specifications

Better to use the latest version all the time.

We have set of classes, I hope you know what's a class is. You can find explanations on each classes on that doc.

I think it's better you should start from the basis first of all. Best place to start work on is the Sun Java Tutorial.

Eranga thanks a lot you were best of help..
I searched for the method in String Class at the link you gave me..
    but I couldn't find such a method..
seems like the instructer is confising two languages or something..
    LoL..
I'll be sure to work on the tutorial..
