JBuilder is a Java IDE I think. I use NetBeans, and I would say that it and Eclipse are the top IDE's.

IDE stands for Integrated Development Environment. IDE's organize your source, compile it, have advanced editors that compile as you go to display errors as you type, and a bunch of other stuff.

JBuilder by Borland is one of the early Java IDE's. Borland has an excellent reputation, but JBuilder must be licensed, and the licenses are expensive.

If you are starting out, I recommend Sun's Netbeans IDE. It is complete, free, and it is *easier to learn* than Eclipse.

According to the forum poll, and most of what I hear, Eclipse is the most used IDE, followed by Netbeans.

And few other free IDEs as well. I think Intelli JIDEA also have a free version for students. But it's not comes with lots of features which have complete version.
