Since this has been asked so very very very often, there's sticky thread at the top of this forum called What are you using to write your code? that lists what people believe to be the best IDEs. It's almost more of a religious thing than a logical thing.

Eclipse is good choice bor beginner.
For professional tools: RAD is based on Eclipse. JBuilder is another case.View, validate and edit X9.37, X9.100-180 and UCD ICL files.

Please go to the top of the page and click Thread Tools, and then in the drop-down menu click Mark This Thread As Solved, mathansj, so than everyone will know the problem has been solved and not bother coming here.
-MK12Tell me if you want a cool Java logo avatar like mine and I'll make you one.

I wouldn't say eclipse is a good choice for a beginner..
Its a IDE developed for large projects and because of that its really vast.
Why not just use a smaller IDE to start out then when you understand the basics, or are in need of such a IDE, use eclipse.
Plus eclipse completes lines, presents errors and helps you far too much if the user is meant to be 'learning' java.
But yeah, sorry, their is a sticky for such debates..They're 10 people in the world, those who speak binary, and those who dont.
^ Lame i know, but i can actually count in it nowadays!
