They are called Jave SE and Java EE now i think. For Java SE its the S tandard E dition, plain java. You don't try others like EE(E nterprise E dition) or ME (M obile E dition) when you just start java. Anyways back to your main topic, Java Enterprise Editon, if you did a quick google search "What is java ee" you would get second result then click on FAQ then pick Java EE FAQ and it answers all ur questions, What is EE, difference between SE, etc. Here's the link to the site. java.sun.com/javaee/overview/faq/javaee_faq.jsp#diff
