Default Java Applet + File Uploading

Curiously, I haven't looked into this much but is it possible for a Java Applet to upload a file from the local machine the person is viewing it on to the server the applet is running off of?

Or more specifically, can a java applet upload X file to Y location.

    hello Moncleared
lets get this straight, I come to your web site, your java applets wants to pick out a file on my computer (with my help (direction)) and up lift it to your server.

    I dont think so.

I hate answering a question with "go to this website and find the answer yourself" but here is a start on
What Applets Can and Can't Do

F%^& I CAN NOT POST THE BLOODY LINK BECAUSE OF THE BLOODY STUPID RULES ------- WELL STICK IT THEN Applets Can and Can't Do (The Java™ Tutorials > Deployment > Applets)

I hope this can be some help to you, I hope some bigger java expert can comment more on this problem, and let me know if I misunderstand something and got it wrong.

    thanks for the helpful answer.

Note though that there are exceptions, especially with "signed" applets. have a look here:

Sorry I lost my cool .......... but what is the point of it. ( I could understand if the URL went something like www . these pictures have big tits . com ) , in which case you would get banned from this group, but if the URL contained say both Sun & Java why not let it go though.

oh thats my whinge and one post closer.

my guess: to foil spam-bots, but I'm not a moderator, so my guess is just that.
