j3d classpath

I recently decide to try out java 3d. I downloaded and installed as the instructions said but when it came to setting the CLASSPATH i came unstuck. They recommend

.;C:\java\jdk1.6.0_07\bin;C:\java\j3d\lib\ext\j3dc ore.jar;C:\java\j3d\lib\ext\j3dutils.jar;C:\java\j 3d\lib\ext\vecmath.jar

and for the PATH

C:\java\J3d\lib\i586

but it will not work it keeps coming up with the same error when i compile it. I was wondering if anyone could help.

PATH values should be for executable locations. Is that your path contain any executable used for Java 3D?

nope all the executable files are in the lib\ext folder but that is how the official guide told me to do it i will try again with that in mind
