    Default I will pay

    Is anyone willing to get paid to do a simple program?..I wouldn't normally do this, but I am behind in the class, and this is my second time taking it. So i just wanna pass this dumb class and be done with it...

    Post if you're interested...I'll scan the assignment and e-mail it to whoever wants to do it...need it by monday though
    I'll probably pay $15 by paypal

    nobody with sense will do your work even if you pay them, if its for you to pass then you pass it. By the seems of it its your second shot at it anyway. Please take you stupid money and spend it wisely. maybe on some Java books to help you work through your Java project. if you want help just ask, people are always willing to help. No-one will do it for you.
    Not only do you ask this but you also double posted. ;)

    Man,what do you study?If you study for a Software Engineer,so man you should know programming basics and all the courses which are brought to you by your place,are only for you and your benefit.There are also such sites where you pay programmers for your task,it is not the proper place to post such posts.If you want people to help you make efforts and post what point you are stuck at.If not,then you can post me a private message.

    I have to create a program which finds the solutions for second degree polynomials. ax^2+bx+c=0

    it refers to the quadratic equation...
    the description states: The part under the square root symbol (b^2-4ac) is called the discriminant. If this number is zero, the equation has one solution. which is printed by the program. If the discriminant is greater than zero, there are two solutions, and the program prints both. However, if the discriminant is negative, the program can not take the squareroot. The user sees a message saying that the solutions are complex.
    This program is supposed to contain 1 value returning method, and also 3 void methods.

    Sample Run:
    Please enter a:
    1
    Please enter b:
    -3
    Please enter c:
    -4

    The solutions are -1 and -4

    for the solution you have better formula for that for finding unknown x:

    and

    So ,for getting square root,you have already created math library in java,so you import it:
    Java Code:
    import java.math.*;
    and use it like this for example:

    Java Code:
    int t=Math.sqrt(9);
    For getting the result i recommend not to use integers,use double modifier

    What is the purpose of 3 void methods?

    I think they are set methods for three values in the quadratic equation.

    i have no clue what the purpose of the 3 void methods are for. I'm just going to do the program normally

    Java Code:
    import java.util.*;
    public class Quad {
    	private int a=1;
    	private int b=1;
    	private int c=0;

    	public void setA(int a){
    		this.a=a;
    	}

    	public void setB(int b){
    		this.b=b;
    	}

    	public void setC(int c){
    		this.c=c;
    	}

    	public double[] getResult(){
    		double[] result=new double[2];
    		Scanner scan=new Scanner(System.in);
    		System.out.println("Enter the a");
    		this.setA(scan.nextInt());
    		System.out.println("Enter the b");
    		this.setB(scan.nextInt());
    		System.out.println("Enter the c");
    		this.setC(scan.nextInt());
    		result[0]=(-b-Math.sqrt((double)(b*b)-4*a*c))/(2*a);
    		result[1]=(-b+Math.sqrt((double)(b*b)-4*a*c))/(2*a);
    		return result;
    	}
    }

    serjant you forgot to add your paypal address lmao. I wouldn't have done it for him considering he should read his book for class and do his own work for his grade. After that ask questions.

    You forgot the print statement he may not know how to do it.

    I expect from him to do the rest by himself,I hope that he at least knows about main method. :p

    yes it takes 5 minutes to create, but it takes months to learn =) its understandable but unacceptable to do that.

    Default I don't find it understandable ...

    I might have misunderstood the comment, but I don't find it in any way understandable to pay someone to get your homework done (it doesn't matter how long it takes to learn).
    • Question: Would you get on a airplane that had sw programmed by somebody who paid to get his/her homework done?

    Difficult? This is Mission Impossible, not Mission Difficult. Difficult should be easy.

    people tend to get lazy or tired or too depending on others sometimes. for his case, he is frustrated cause he got behind schedule in his class and couldnt understand what the lecturer is teaching. its understandable cause stuff like this do happen. but not acceptable cause this is his own problem for not pay attention in class. paying money to get someone to do the work aint right. should have put in more effort. thats my point.

    Question: Would you get on a airplane that had sw programmed by somebody who paid to get his/her homework done?
    if that person can program a sw for a plane, i dont think the problem will exist anymore. there is always more than 1 point of view in the same scenario. just the matter of where you want to look at it from. peace =)

    > I expect from him to do the rest by himself,I hope that he at least knows about main method.

    Did you consider that the OP, whose knowledge of Java is obviously pathetic, could post your code on another forum saying "This is what I've done so far..." and thus get undeserved help for the next stage?

    And move from forum to forum till the assignment is done.

    Posting code for someone who is unable to show us any isn't help, it's aiding and abetting cheating.

    Sorry, Serjant, but that's the way I see it. And although the OP wrote

    >> i just got carried away and frustrated...i didn't really want to make the post, but i just got so pissed with this class. I'm gonna try on my own and post the program if i have any problems

    the same post was made on the Sun forums 14 minutes before this one, and was deservedly removed 24 minutes after it was posted.

    edit Just saw this:
    I must be seriously messed up...

    edit2 Exactly as I feared. Serjant, I hope you learn something from this experience.
    New To Java - compiling problem

    Starts "i did my code"
    Not "Serjant did my code"

    The Math class is not in the java.math package, so there's no need to import java.math.*. It's in the java.lang package which is automatically imported.

    That won't compile.

    Double is not a modifier. Modifiers are: public, protected, private, static, final, etc.
