    Default Interested in learning Java

    Hello to all of the Java Gurus :) - I"m very much interested in learning Java. Can you please give me some recommendations to websites/books where I could teach myself this programming language. Thank you in advanced for your help!

    Yes lol, this is the perfect thing for beginners. I think the second link should be come first. :p

    By the way amarelv, as we discuss in our community hundreds of times, since you are a newbie for Java better to work on Notepad + Command prompt. If you want to find more about Java IDE, see my signature. There is a nice link that you need all.

    May i also recommend a book for you to have. Its really helpful for people looking to learn Java. It presumes to past experience in programming but carries forward at a nice pace.

    Sams Teach Yourself Java 6 in 21 days is the title. However some of these "Days" may take a weekend to complete and understand fully.

    That book is not bad, but I don't think there exercises are much better. And also don't stick with the time line it describe, it's not a good idea to move in that way. Take your time, do experiments, that's the way I suggest.

    No actually it's not a bad thing lol. Java API is not much descriptive as MSDN, but the explanation is quite good.
