May i also recommend a book for you to have. Its really helpful for people looking to learn Java. It presumes to past experience in programming but carries forward at a nice pace.
Sams Teach Yourself Java 6 in 21 days is the title. However some of these "Days" may take a weekend to complete and understand fully.

That book is not bad, but I don't think there exercises are much better. And also don't stick with the time line it describe, it's not a good idea to move in that way. Take your time, do experiments, that's the way I suggest.Quote:
