You may be best to drop it now, only you can answer this. You may wish to try it again in the future, but if you do, you'll need to outline a plan of attack to be sure that you'll succeed such as planning in advance to set aside adequate time each night to study and review. Given the difficulty level, this will likely be quite a bit more time than you give to your other courses. Good luck.

Also. Seeking comfort from geeks who already know whatever you're trying to learn is not the way you want to go. Especially on the internet.

That being said: cheer up sourpuss! There's no shame in trying. Like Kiss used to say - "It's never too late to work 9 to 5".

Ah, self-loathing! It's only a subject, mate, don't let it get you down.

I know exactly what that feeling's like, gallimaufry, I felt it after I made 65s on both my tests after I studied the chapter, and the teacher gave us only 4 trick questions and only 1 hour to do them in. I knew my stuff, but he'd make us write the output of a page-long program with only one error; a missing bracket or something. Most of us flunked, and almost a third of the class dropped out.

But I took this class, and I'm gonna finish it before I branch my major FAR away from programming. That's why I'm here; so I can ask the questions the teacher won't answer, that aren't very clear from his mumbled lecture. I learn from the textbook and learn from the mistakes from my own failed attempts, and tips and suggestions I get from here.

Overall, we all bomb tests, in all subjects, so you've just gotta make some decisions once you do. And from what I've learned, Java builds on the basics taught at the beginning, so it'll get harder. You just really need to be able to read the code and understand what its telling the computer to do. I understand the general concepts, I just can't seem to apply them right. If you can't understand the concepts at all, then perhaps you should drop out.

But only switch out of the Computer Science class, I'm sure there's another major that better suits you. Good luck funding it!
