How to declare and initalize application space variables

Hello fellow programmers,

I have a tough assignment this weekend and I need some assistance. I have to figure out how to declare and initialize struts. If someone could point me in the right direction or give me some assistance it would be great.

What are these? Can you explain or give some examples?

To tell you the truth I am not sure. The question stated, "Figure out how to take application space variables with struts and initialize them." I am new to Java so i am not sure what he was referring to. I have been doing some research and I think he is asking how to initialize a struts application.
