    Default Ethics in java

I hope this is the place to post this question.

I have a program that utilizes a server to gather information. It sends out a request to open a site on the server about once ever few seconds and if the request is denied because of server overload, itll wait and keep trying until it can complete the request. My question is, since im new at this, should I inform the owner of the server and explain why the server has so much network traffic now? I get 503 errors every ~10 seconds. Is there a better way to do this?

well if you don't explain it, the owner will likely see you as an intruder and block you out.

Yes, you should explain yourself. It might even be that you're breaking site rules by fetching (and I assume: storing) data like this.
