Help with Network Intrusion Detection

Hi,

Looking to create some sort of intrusion detection system using java. Im a fairly basic java user. I have done my research (hopefully). I will be using caida to send threats (packets) and then be using Snort to analyze the network. Just looking for someone to point me in the right direction for where to start in terms of creating my own IDS. Any help with configuring Snort rules would be very much appreciated too.

Are you sure you are in the correct forum. I've never heard of any of the things you are talking about in java programming.

I believe so. I am assuming that i will have to start coding in Java network programming. although i could be wrong.

I have no idea what you are trying to do. I'll wait until I see some classes from Java SE.
