To run Netbeans on Linux Fedora 8
Hi. I use Netbeans to practise on Java programming. But so happend that for some time I cannot to force Netbeans to run on Linux Fedora 8. Emacs in case of programming lacks some features which I need now, thus I prefer use Netbeans.
Below is given an error which I did not manage to solve;
java: xcb_xlib.c:50: xcb_xlib_unlock: Assertion `c->xlib.lock' failed.
./bean.sh: line 1360: 4325 Aborted /usr/jdk/jdk1.6.0_03/bin/java -Xmx256m -Xms64m -Djava.io.tmpdir=/tmp -classpath /tmp/.nbi-1034018.tmp/bundle.jar org.netbeans.installer.Installer
Java Development Kit is being installed.
What do you think about it?

Did you install from the Netbeans + JDK bundle? I find it a lot more reliable that installing the JDK and Netbeans separately.
You may have to uninstall both before installing it again.

I hope too. Better to install the bundle as fishtoprecords says. You can easily download it from the NetBeans web site. Just have a try..

I am sure that installing a bundle of JDK and Netbeans one's could succeed. I want to find out how to prevent getting that error installing Netbeans IDE separately from JDK.
My notebook uses 512 MB Random Access Memory. For Linux it is enough, but in case of Windows OS (Vista) it is really a lack.

That should an issue with the OS. Normally vista need more memory for it's advance graphics. It can be cause to NetBeans either.
But the interest thing is that NetBeans not provide two packages for Vista and other Windows.
This is my general thoughts on this.

If you are not committed to Fedora, you might also consider Ubuntu, as there is a good support community for it.
I don't know why your install is missing that particular file. Seems to me that some problem isolation is needed. Can you find that file using locate or find?
You might want to consider installing the bundled and verify that it works, check for the missing file, then deinstall the bundle and reinstall separately.
I always just take the eazy way, and do the bundle

Sorry expertise, I don't think you are a good programmer at all. In programming general thoughts plays the major role in software developments. That's the trend. Start from the general tips and move ahead, AI follows those things clearly.
Anyway, sorry for the commenting on your question again.

True, general thoughts drives to target, but your thoughts were not to that point. True once again, I am beginner in Java programming, but I pay pretty much attention to Java programming; soon or later I will become software developer. It is what how I see my future.
