repositioning

hii..
im developing a swing aplication in netbeans
i have a main frame containing panels...
when i place one panle over the other it automatically repositions the underlying panel
is there an option to stop automatic repositioning of components

by default its using a free layout...
ive tried even the null layout...
bt the result is same....

have another problem too...
ive done my application with a mainpanel(frameview) containing other panels
the size of the application...how do i remove its maximize option as i dont want it to go beyond their actual sizes?
