Using Lucene to search PDF Documents

Hello *,

first of all: Sorry for being such a newbie and sorry for my bad english!

I am currently browsing the web for hours and trying to get Lucene running and to index and search PDF-Documents.

I'm currently using Eclipse and i've got the feeling it's not clever to use it. Any better advice?

What i am simply trying to do:

index PDF-Documents
search them.

I tried some stuff like PDFBox and PDFTextStream but nothing is working...

you need to know, by now i really know like nothing about lucene. I managed to run the LuceneDemo in Eclipse to search Textfiles, but thats all.

I guess my biggest problem is, that i am not getting the right informations i need. The Web is full of examples, but often you get problems because of old releases and stuff like that.

Does anyone have a quick example how i can index PDF-Documents in a folder and search them...

I hope someone knows a good tutorial (or a book, website...) where i can learn what i need :-)

Did you understand my problem? I know, bad english, so if you've got Questions - just ask!

Please dont reply with Posts like "use google" - believe me, i tried and i am kind of frustrated ...

Haha, well thank you. To be honest, when i received the mail "Reply to thread 'Using Lucene to search PDF Documents'" i was hoping for something different than for a compliment on my english, but ok, thank you ;-)
