Think about what they ask in the interview and compare with what you have done so far, what you know....

The UK market is now got lots of candidates due to the economy slowdown where as there used to be a big requirement of caniddates so ur timing is bad. Sorry. I would suggest trying technojobs.co.uk for the biggest range of java jobs.
Also give your CV to a professional company to assess and review in the UK - as your CV is so important. Good luck. Also look at Contractor UK - for java contracts. good luck.

I will look in to those websites.
Do I need to do some courses in Java?
Ppl say that without having a degree in UK or without any experience in UK, its difficult to get a job. Is that so?

Just doing lots and lots of courses not make sense lol. Taking a distinction for a course and real time projects are completely different. Working experience is must in any place. Doing lots and lots project make a huge difference lol. You have a big chance for that. Search on the web, on Java you find thousand of open source projects. Join with one of them and try to do something. And also you can do some simple/individual projects as well, may be creating a simple game.

I'm from an Asian country and I cannot say more about the situation in UK. But the requirement of a degree is depends on the employee who hire you. Some people seen it as a must, while others are not.

    Hi All

Even I have the same problem. I moved to UK before 1.5 yrs and still searching for jobs. Market is really really flat.
Also, there is 1.5 yrs gap in my CV. Could you suggest me something for getting a job? Is there anyone who got a job recently in UK?
Can I do a PG in UK?
    Please suggest some ideas.

I started applying for jobs for the past 1yr. I wasted my time only in applying for jobs. I attended a couple of interviews. Earlier I used to get a lot of calls from recruitement agencies. Now there aren't any.
They all say that, this is a really difficult time.
I dont know what I am gonna do with that gap.

As I said earlier in one of my post, I'm not from UK and I don't have an idea about the industry in depth. But this is happening all over the world those days. Lots of companies stop there recruitment as well.

My suggestion is, until you find a job better to do some higher studies. May be a PG, or a masters degree. I hope you are a graduate in IT relevant field. Most of the economist thought about this crisis is, to recover this crisis will take a bit long time.

Yep. I am not gonna stop applying for jobs.
There are a lot of universities here. Entering in a University shouldn't be a problem. Also, I did my UG in Computer Science only.

Are there anyone doing PG(or did PG) in UK?

How did you approach your job search? Have you every tried some vertical job search engine like the one at my signature? A friend of my got a job offer thanks to intesive research of employer's website and point out where and how to improve it. You can do the same thing I believe (they even consider sponsor his visa)

Ya, even I heard that in UK there are few research agencies about finding jobs. I'm not sure about that, but better to check. Actually even in here in Sri Lanka, there are such places. We just have to register with a small amount of money and look up. No need to pay for government agencies at all.

I believe that this is directing for me.

Actually you cannot see my signature, because still you are a newbie to our community. Actually you have to spend more time here in the forum, and once your total number of posts exceeded 20, then you can see them.

Please keep in mind that, do not post messages here and there to exceed that. You may get ban here. If you want to know something let me know. I'll help you.

    Good luck! :)
