day-to-day work:
We are currently accepting resumes for a Seasoned Lead Java Developer supporting our key Federal Client Account
– Federal Client Account Site in Alexandria, Virginia.
LEAD JAVA DEVELOPER – RESPONSIBILITY OVERVIEW
The selected candidate will responsible for leading team of 7-10 developers through
the entire lifecycle of software development, including supporting unit and
integration testing, analysis and design, and supporting documentation of
requirements and design and artifacts.
The Lead Developer must have the ability to present solutions to both Technical &
Non-Technical project members and must have strong leadership communication
and collaboration skills and will be responsible for:
* Balancing the demand for resources with the supply of resources taking into
consideration skills, level of experience, geographic location, developmental
objectives of the resources, and financial ramifications.
* Developing the necessary processes for code CM, workstation configurations, and scripting in support of applications running on production servers.
Leadership for the formal design documents according to client defined processes, perform code reviews, and provide unit testing for each module developed.
* Performance and/or Leadership on the builds and upgrades of the build process (Code will be checked into a COTS repository).
* Maintenance Ownership of existing (legacy) applications and active involved in new
development and modernization efforts
Education and
experience: Senior level experience of 6-8 years in hands on development experience.
* Team Leadership of 3-5 years leading a team of 7-10 developers in a dynamic agile environment.
* JAVA - 8+ yrs Java, including solid experience with design patterns & JAVA
Enterprise Technologies that include;
o Servlets/JSPs EJB 2.0, EJB 3.0
o JDBC Applets
o JMS JNI
* Experience with Webservices, JAX-WS, JAX-RS, XML, WSDL, JAXB.
* Knowledge of MVC frameworks (Struts, SPRING).
* Working knowledge with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX and frameworks (dojo, jquery, YUI).
* Working knowledge with JPA frameworks (Hibernate).
* Strong OO design patterns and concepts.
* Working knowledge with RDBMS (oracle), SQL.
* Experience with application servers (Websphere, Weblogic (preferable)).
Other Key Qualifying Skills - Experience with ASP .NET/C# development | Windows Services, and IIS 5.0, IIS 6.0, Inter-process communication | Working knowledge in an IDE (e.g. eclipse, Visual Studio) | Strong comfortable level with both Linux and scripting (ksh, zsh, Perl or ruby), Oracle and SQL | Experience with a
CM tool such as CVS, subversion, rational.
KEY “DESIRED” experience includes:
* Experience with sending messages via Websphere MQ | Familiarity with Rules based development and functional programming |Working familiarity with and willingness to do Agile or other RAD processes, preferably using UML (e.g. Use Cases, Sequence diagrams etc) | At the very least, have the willingness (if not actual
working ability) to write design documents and do formal code reviews.

My only employee is my cat. And the closest to programming she gets is when she sleeps on the keyboard and somehow manages to activate features that I didn't even know existed in every program and tab I have open. That might be a new way to test software, just sit a cat on the keyboard and see what happens...
