career in J2EE

Hi

I started programming in C then VC++ and worked in VC++ for couple of years.
then for a short period only with C++ under linux and have worked as a consultant all the while

my last project i had to work on java but not web development or enterprise ,, just on a standalone java tool . i m almost finished with this now, and my employer wants me to work on something else VB script

i think its time i settle down in one technology , i need your career advise on this

what i want to do is continue learning java language and also learn J2EE and move to java enterprise application field and stay there.
but the problem is , with my current job( software tool development and support ) i can only work on multiple tools not related to J2EE.

in future will i be able to get a job in J2EE with just Java language knowledge and a certification ?

would it be a good idea to continue working on java atleast at home ?

Hi.
I think you can get a job in JEE right now. If you have a strong knowledge in C/C++ you can start to develop in Java a very quickly. But I don't understand why you decide to replays a program language with C/C++ on Java.
I know that this is developer, which has a deep knowledge in C/C++ can has a very good salary to compare with Java developer.

the issue is i want to move to asia pacific and am currently in europe

and in asia pacific , there is demand in the area of j2ee and less C/C++ ( i mean application developement ) since i have not been programming embedded or semiconductor technology

moreover , compared to C++ , java is simpler and easier

Oh my god. ) You thought that when you would immigrate to Europe you will have a good job ). I must disappoint you, because it's nothing to change. In Europe if you haven't a deep knowledge you have to find a good job. For start I advice you to find a remote job.

what is a remote job ?
