mysql driver problem

this is my first thread in this forum,
so i hope you solve my problem,
i am trying to use mysql with java or connect them,i install the mysql clearly
and install the driver , it's ok;
when i install mysql it can't run as awindows service((this is 1st problem))
when i want to configure or add the drvier and try to find the database ,give me a message ((mysql error))
so
i need to know is the 1st problem it's effective???
& how to fill the feilds on the driver;

I dint get your question Properly , But anyways let me explain how to configure to u ,

1 . First install MySQl , where u can set the UserName and password for Mysql , Try to open that using Query Browser or Cmd Line , By that u can make sure ur MySql works

2 . Then Write a Simple Jsp , wich connects to the Database , suppose if u r using Tomcat Server to run the JSP ,Put ur jar file (MySql Driver) inside your application library or common library.

Try to follow these steps still if u gettin the error ,then send the error , here lots of java guru's are there to help u...ask more qn so that u get more and more comfortable to the language
