problem white SQLderver 2008

Hi all!
I need some help, I'm a new devloper in java, and I created and mange tabels in MySQL.
now I need to do a project in pure java(JDBC) that connect to SQLServer 2008 but I can't connect to it
is ther a step by step guide or some metrials can direct me to one?
do I need to configuer the SQLServer in some way?

"I can't connect to it" tells us very little.
But there should be a How To on Microsofts site, I seem to remember.
Of course, it all depends on what your actual problem is...it could be a basic JDBC error in which case you ought to look at the Oracle Java tutorials for JDBC.
