Default Statement or Prepared Statement ?

what are the differences between them? which is the best ? in what case do I have to use preparedstatement?
I'm developing a web application and it has a data base connection.
What do you recommend me to use?
    thanks

    Default

It is better to use prepared statement because it is faster for the data base server. And you must close it after you are done with it (not keeping it open for a long period). Why keep an unnecessary resource in memory?
