Java and TPS
Hello Everyone,
Well, First of all Thank you for this site.
I want to hear ideas about Java and TPS. I'm a student and our school's practice of programming is not with Java, but I heard a lot about Java, of how powerful it is etc. My question is that is it ok to use Java SE for Transaction Processing Systems such as Library,Inventory, Video Rental etc.? I mean I really have no idea what other thing Java can do, cause we're getting used of making TPS for project presentations. I love gaming software and I wish Java could be better for that because I love it's environment.
I would appreciate if someone here would share their yahoo id to me so that we could chat for some times because I really love talking to programmers, I'm a very beginner of this.
The best,
Jef

Java is a nice, small OO language with lots of great libraries that do tons of hard stuff for you, so you can focus on the domain problems.

If you're interested in graphics or game programming, so Java isn't so bad in that area as it used to be before.
Check the JME project which is a game engine written in java, which is very easy to use and does a real good job.
And the OpenGL bindings for Java (JOGL OR JWGL) if you want to use OpenGL API in Java.
