Default JSP and log in sessions

Does anyone have a good example in using JSP in a log in session with a browser. I want to use JSP in REST with log in for a project. I also want to MD5 hash the password and stored in a database. I have done this in PHP before, I'm just not sure where to start in JSP.

Thanks for anyone's help on this matter.

Default Re: JSP and log in sessions

Ok, so I thought about it and it looks like I should use JSF to accomplish this. The problem I'm having is how do I create a session variable that will be removed once the session is not active anymore?
