Question JSF - PrimeFaces, why both? Is one enough? If not why?

Hi, there. I am new to the Java EE platform. And I'm currently studying Java EE 7. I am in a trouble. I can't figure out the differences between JSF 2.2 and Prime Faces. Is both are identical ? I'm going to develop a project in Java EE. But I am not getting a clear understanding. Could you please help me to figure this out ?

Primefaces is an extension to JSF, adding in many rich internet components and configurable skins. JSF is the core framework with some basic components in it; it is built to be extended, not to provide everything and the kitchen sink out of the box. Check out the demo page of Primefaces to see all the goodies it adds to the table:

    PrimeFaces - ShowCase

It works incredibly well I can tell you.
