    To be honest I do not see any vital difference but what induced me to ask is that almost every Architect that I met in J2EE bereich use Linux. I don't have contact with those people any more in order to ask them what was a reason.

    Maybe because J2EE application run in Unix/Linux enviroment or the Linux skills are required from Architects or... yeah mey be something important more, which I do not take into consideration. Or may be it's quite transparent and neutral...

    Perhaps its because they like Linux as a server OS, who knows. Going to a forum to figure out what some people you met were thinking is not really going to get you anywhere IMO. But whatever floats your boat I guess.

    Conversationally: if I would have been more forthcoming and said LINUX IS AWESOME!, would that persuade you to go run it?
