New Java Online Compiler And Runner
Hi to all,
After many weekends of work, I just deployed yesterday a new free online java compiler and runner for the community at http://www.browxy.com
It's useful when you want to try code fast and easily without having a JDK installed.
One cool thing is that you receive the results immediately and also you can run thread programs and see the results in the same time they are generated.
It also allow for command line arguments and it works in firefox, explorer and also I tried it in an IPOD.
I'd love to receive feedback and suggestions to make it better (I added twitter)
I'm planning to add more features like let users to save code and make a directory of useful programs
Thanks a lot!
David

It looks good, and is not trivial to program to say the least. But can you digress a bit on "use-cases" you have in mind? Maybe it's my not using anything like an IPOD that's explaining my lack of imagination.

Jodokus, Thanks for the feedback!
I have many ideas with this. Mainly is a tool to try fast code in java to see if it compiles. Then as the users submits more code make a searchable directory of small programs like fibonacci, using Random numbers, simple examples of filesystem programs, etc. So instead of looking to a code on internet, download to your computer and find out that is not working for some reason, using this tool you can know for sure that is working and also play with it before trying in your machine.
Other idea is for learning, instead of downloading the JDK, you can start trying programs rapidly and then when you feel more confortable download JDK or eclipse to make bigger programs.
Do you think of other ideas where this can be applied ?

Hello David,
I guess you 're right: there are situations that you don't have a fully installed PC at your disposal.
The part of the programstore, I don't know. It needs at least good moderation. Places with a concentration of good programs or snippits are always worthwile. But browsing the internet you find a lot of sites with lots of crap applets with one "jewel" in 100: it costs too much time to browse. On the other hand: I've been thinking a forum like this needs a moderated site with links to applets + code (including yours). I found this forum via the nice site of KevinWorkman, there should be more like that, categorized, indexed and rated at a central place like this forum (maybe I missed it though, I'm rather new here).
But Im loosing the main line of your thread. Good luck with the project!
