    r u using any IDE like netbeans or eclipse ....
    i think u r not using , check deployment descriptor file(web.xml) for servlet is mapped correctly or not,
    with out mapping(register) your servlet in web.xml you cant call the servlet from html.

    ok fine,
    then netbeans automatically register your servlet with web.xml??
    1st check in web.xml for servlet is registered or not!!

    check like this ...
    go to ur project --> web -->web-inf --> web.xml

    check deployment descriptor file web.xml,
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>ABC</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>urServletClassTypehere</servlet-class>
    </servlet>

    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>ABC</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/hurl</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
