Default jre 7u45,applet access user files is denied

After updating jre version to 7u45,my applet program cannot access user files
though java.policy file is correctly set.
I found the solution through internet,a way to treat the problem is signing the jar.
After signing, applet can access user files.

My question is except signing jar,is there another way to permit applet access user files?

They tightened up the applet security this year, so signing is pretty much a requirement to do anything that involves accessing the user machine.
I would be surprised if there was a non-signing way around this as that would negate the improved security.
Please do not ask for code as refusal often offends.

    Thanks for you reply.
Is there any official enunciation why java.policy is unavailable and signed jar with trusted CA is available for accessing to local file system?

How were you using the .java.policy file? Where was the file located and what was in it.
If you don't understand my response, don't ignore it, ask a question.
