    Default Java graphics

    Is it possible for java to have hyper real graphics, like with games? Because World of warcraft has excellent graphics BUT it is coded with a base of C or C# or C++ not sure which one. And RuneScape is based coded with java but the graphics are not as good as World of Warcraft. BUT RuneScape is also a browser game... i just want to know, and thanks in advance. :D

    Do you mean 3D? Yes it is possible to do 3D in java. Look into LWJGL, which is a wrapper for OpenGL.

    Try JMonkey.
    My own experience is in Java3D, but I gave JMonkey a quick scan and it looks very promising.

    I strongly suggest you steer away from Java3D as it is dead and it's poorly designed. JMonkeyEngine is good for starters but using LWJGL is the most recommended step into the OpenGL and, eventually, 3D world.

    @ra4king
    I agree Java3D support is lacking recently, and deployment is difficult (but possible of course). I have a few nice books that gave a lot of fun especially combined with ODE (mechanics engine). I planned to use it for creatures evolving by a Genetic Algorithm but want to explore JMonkey first.
    LWJGL is unknown to me.

    If you need any help with java gaming, I suggest you register at JavaGaming.org - Index. That's where Notch (Minecraft's creator), Princec (Revenge of the Titan's creator), etc.. hang out.

    BTW - I am ra4king there too.

    Thanks. I'll check it out.
    I'm not primarily interested in gaming, but I can surely learn something though.
    I'm dreaming of something like
    YouTube - Karl Sims - Evolved Virtual Creatures, Evolution Simulation, 1994
    and
    Darwin@Home Video
    But now I'm stealing this thread I guess (and supposing you were talking to me).

    Well i didn't really mean 3d... Hyper real graphics are graphics that look more than real. Sorry if i confused you but, it did help what you all told me, thanks :D Oh and i see Jmonkey is very promising so i think i will use that.
