New to java. Need help on books and online materials

Hello friends,
I am completely new to JAVA, though I have some basic knowledge about C, C++ and OOPs. I want to write the SUN certified core and advanced JAVA exams. Please inform me about which books i should refer, and any online material that I can look into. Thanks in advance.

1. It's been a long time since Oracle bought Sun. There are currently no Sun certifications for Java.
2. Java is not an acronym. The word is Java, not JAVA.

Yes Sir. Thanks a lot. Too much use of SMS chat and here I am using letters like "u" and "r" in a "TECHNICAL FORUM".

David Holzner Java is old but Might get it inexpensive and straight forward amazingly so right up to speed fast.
