am learning java (obviously)

i would like to as the pros and averages users
when you guys are learning java what method of learning do you guys use to remember what you learnt or to understand it

i mean iv been trying to learn java for the past few weeks and i keep forgetting basic fundamental stuff

i know people may say well keep practicing but i would be happy if someone gave some form of method that i can use or follow.
