Oh, and I don't get one on a JTextArea either.

    This is on 1.6_51.
can you please open the url provided by Norm above and click on textarea control there you'll see a menu comes. This was default functionality for other controls also in APPLET before recent when it has been disabled in applets by Oracle/Sun. I have explored hundreds of web pages on google and have found that this is a widely reported issue and suggested fix is to digitally sign the JAR file. My issue is even after signing I do not see the menu on right click. This is what Im looking for.....

What TA control are you talking about? There is an HTML TEXTAREA at the bottom of the page.
Where is there a TA in the applet that you can get a menu from?

OK, I get a menu on that top field also. That is a TextField in an Applet (AWT not Swing)

My applet code is rather old. We tried to upgrade JDK to 1.7u45 to compile and sign the JAR but we got few errors so we used JDK 1.3 to compile the JAR and 1.7u45 to sign the JAR file. Can this be a cause for right click menu not working?

We tested with more sample JAR files signed with different versions of Java. The issue is persisting. It seems to be either a bug in JRE 1.7 or a security enhancement which blocks right click for textfield altogether.

Is the textfield a TextField or a JTextField?

It's AWT TextField. for Swing components right click is not available.

I have run into the same issue after upgrading to Java 7 with no menu showing up for a right mouse click in a text field. Did anyone find a solution or workaround for this issue. Is it a bug or working as designed?
