how direct her/ him to the Sun´s download page?

When an applet won´t init because the client´s computer does not have java or does not have the latest/ correct version of java installed, is there a way to let the user know to install the missing stuff? Or even better to direct her/ him to the Sun´s download page?

Yep.... add javascript

Check first if the user's browser has enabled the java-plugin...

have an experiment on navigator.javaEnabled()
