    Default Timed Comments

Hey everyone, I'm new to this site. I've been reading threads for a few months now but finally decided to buck up and register so that I could post something here. My name's Will, im 25, i live in between Lansing, Michigan, and San Francisco, CA.. (ive been between these two places the last couple years) so, enough bout me. I have a question..

OK. so I've been using this site, soundcloud.com/strangeflow , its an audio site with a waveform for every track you post (im a musician AS WELL as a technical analyst) and then they have a 'timed-comments' bar underneath the waveform. You can comment at 0:55 into the song to say "I like this bit of the track, or, you messed up on this, " etc etc.. you know what I'm saying... or, please go to that site if you dont

Does anyone on here use soundcloud? they have a really nifty timed-comments bar, you can check it out on any soundcloud music page... Ive started seeing it on vimeo recently, I think it's something thats starting to catch on. Anyway,, I had an idea for a website, but the thing is, it would require a timed-comments bar. But.. my problem is, since I'm not as much of an expert as some of the people on here, what would it take to program it? I'm learning some C#, and java, and I heard it would be that or php.. but.. I don't know.. any advice on that timed comments thing?

Any good points in the right direction would be extremely appreciated! Thanks everyone! I keep trying to figure it out but almost no one seems to be able to respond with help... I look forward to posting more in the future on this forum, and I'll gladly offer any of my advice on topics I am knowledgable.

Are you trying to write a java program or what?
Do you have any specific questions about problems you are having with a java program?

well, thats the problem is that I don't know if i want to write a java applet or something else.. i dontknow how soundcloud did it, but im asking... should i try to figurethis thing out with java? an if so, any advice? or does this look like it could've been done with some completely different program altogether?

does that soundcloud - timed-comments bar look like it was done in java? figured this is a good place to ask, a java forum :)

The look of a website or application is a poor indicator of the development platform. Barring some highly specialized stuff, just about anything can be programmed in any of the popular languages. It's up to you to decide which one you would like to learn.

Whatever you have described so far can be programmed in Java. If you decide to go that route, you could start here.
