Default java applet security warning ?!

hey guys, i'm quite new to java, but not strange to coding language...
as a newbie i need some help in this area.
i made a *.java file, compiled, then i included the code in a html page for my website.
basically what this application does is to check if the visitor has the temporary folder in a particular location and create a temp file there, so next time when he's returning the website will recognize him faster and interact better with the website.
the .java file compiled to *.jar file and loaded on my web works, but it gives a warning first time. here's the warning i get:

    "Warning - Security"
The application's digital signature cannot be verified.
Do you want to run the application?

    Name: MyApplicationName
    Publisher: UNKNOWN
    From: http://myebsite.com

I have compiled the file with signature following the steps:

    javac myapplication.java
    jar cvf myapplication.jar myapplication.class
keytool -genkey -alias myapplicationkey -dname "cn=myapplication, ou=JavaSoft, o=Sun Java, c=US"
keytool -selfcert -alias myapplicationkey -validity 365
    jarsigner myapplication.jar myapplicationkey
    jarsigner -verify -verbose -certs myapplication.jar

If i simply try to compile without signature, the applet will load as an error and won't work

Here are the followed steps to compile without signature:

    javac myapplication.java
    jar cvf myapplication.jar myapplication.class

How can i solve this problem? i would like to avoid that stupid warning, or at least to work without it.

any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

    ty guys!

See the following link for what applets can and cannot do:
What Applets Can and Cannot Do (The Java™ Tutorials > Deployment > Java Applets)
In other words, if you wish to access files on the client computer, you must sign the applet.

@doWhile, thank you very much for your reply. I figured i have to sign the applet to work with client temp folder, but why it's still giving the warning security ?
how can i sign the applet correct? what do i need?
