Default Java Applet failed to run

I have been using Check Point SSL Network Extender to connect to my work computer for the past year. For the first time, I'm unable to connect. I continue to get the following error: Unable to run SNX because Java Applet failed to run. Does anyone know how I can remedy this? Thank you!!!

I just purchased a new computer Windows 7 64-bit, but I have been able to connect to our server at work until last night. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can think of that has changed. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

I do have Java installed but I'm not sure if it's JRE. I'm at work now, but I can check when I get home. If I don't, should I uninstall my current Java software and install the Java JRE? If yes, where can I find it? Thanks for your help, Norm!

If you have java it is probably the JRE which is the version for users. The other version (JDK) is for developers.
If you need to install java, Google for installl java for the Oracle site where you can down load it.
The only other thing I can think to check would be to see if there are any error messages in the java console associated with running an applet in a browser.
